Construction of Multi-Purpose Mission Ship for Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency

Our Managing Partner, Nazmi Zaini together with Partner, Afif Che Had and Senior Associate, Aryn Rozali have advised Desan Shipyard, a Turkish shipbuilder for the procurement and construction of one Multi-Purpose Mission Ship (MPMS) for Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) with consideration of USD 68.8 million. Our scope of work as Malaysian counsel include reviewing and finalising the shipbuilding contract, liaising with stakeholders as well as advising on compliance with local laws and guidelines.

The 99-metre-long MPMS represents a significant leap in MMEA’s capability by integrating advanced command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) technologies. The vessel can operate continuously for 30 days and is capable of carrying 70 crew members and 30 passengers.

With support from our Türkiye Desk, this transaction highlights our strength in cross-border engagements, government procurements and capabilities to act as one stop service centre.
