Nor Aqilah Z. joined Nazmi Zaini Chambers as a Legal Associate in the Advisory & Compliance Practice Group.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Laws (Shariah) (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), following her completion of the Foundation in Law programme at the IIUM Centre for Foundation Studies.

Thereafter, Aqilah completed her pupillage where she gained foundational experience in litigation and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2022. She subsequently served as a Legal Associate handling contentious matters before transitioning into an in-house role as a Shariah Executive at a reinsurance company. In that role, she gained exposure to Shariah governance, corporate policy development, advisory work and regulatory compliance.

At Nazmi Zaini Chambers, Aqilah supports the Advisory & Compliance Practice Group by advising clients on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters. Her work includes drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, conducting compliance reviews and developing corporate policies as well as procedures to ensure alignment with applicable regulatory and governance requirements.
