Kevin Richard Nathan graduated with Bachelor of Laws from Multimedia University. Kevin was admitted to the Malaysian Bar since 2017.

Before joining Nazmi Zaini Chambers as a Partner, he was an Associate at Messrs. Zul Rafique & Partners and a Senior Associate at Messrs. Shearn Delamore & Co, both top tier law firms in Malaysia.

His primary area of practice is Dispute Resolution, particularly in the Construction industry. Kevin regularly advises clients on, amongst others, adjudication proceedings commenced pursuant to the Construction Industry Payment & Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA 2012) as well as claims brought via arbitration and the civil courts. He also advises clients with the drafting and negotiation of Construction & Engineering related agreements.

Kevin was also previously an in-house counsel for Malaysia’s largest public sector pension fund for civil servants, the Retirement Fund Incorporated (Kumpulan Wang Persaraan) commonly known as KWAP. During his time with KWAP, Kevin advised and assisted KWAP on the purchase of several properties in Malaysia, United Kingdom and Australia. He also assisted KWAP with its day-to-day operations including reviewing joint venture agreements, shareholders’ agreement and investment advisory agreements.

  • Acted for a well-known Malaysian property developer in setting aside an adjudication decision which awarded the sum of about RM46million
  • Acted for a subsidiary of a well-known Malaysian energy group in respect of a sale of goods contract matter at the Court of Appeal
  • Acted for a contractor in an arbitration proceeding where the contractor claimed the sum of about RM120million against the main contractor
  • Acted for a well-known Malaysian telco provider in respect of a debt recovery matter at the High Court
  • Acted for a local hotelier in defending a claim brought by its contractor in relation to a build only contract at the Sessions Court
  • Acted for a local developer in striking out a claim brought by a supplier in relation to a supply contract matter at the Sessions Court
  • Acted for a contractor in the drafting and negotiation of a Design & Build contract for the construction of an Automated People Mover (APM) located in one of the airports in Malaysia
